Principal's Message

Dear Collier Middle School Community,

Welcome to summer!  Our students and staff are in full swing in our Extended School Year program.

This summer students are completing the “Triple Crown Challenge”.  They are selecting three goals in the areas of:  1.  Academic Achievement 2.  Creative Expression 3.  Physical Fitness.  Our students are pursing these goals in a safe academic environment where exploring emotions and learning about feelings and how to express them is encouraged.

We believe that a safe learning environment is needed in order to foster a student’s feeling of security and belonging.  During the middle school years children are particularly vulnerable therefore we encourage all students to participate in developing a safety plan that allows students, when triggered, to rely upon the safety of our professional staff as well as a plan of action to assist during this time.  We continue to emphasize our four core behaviors:  safety, respect, responsibility and kindness as a guide in reflecting on how to be successful at Collier Middle School.

Students are going into in depth summer academic projects in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.  In addition to the structured academic classes students and staff leave campus for an enriching weekly field experience.  Collier Middle School students are able to enjoy our beautiful County Parks and local Ocean Beaches while learning about local aquatic life and the environment.   Biking, hiking and swimming are offered daily as well as at the field trip locations.

We rely upon our partnership with our students, our parents and guardians and with our sending school districts.  We believe in nurturing our students individual strengths and we know that it is only in partnership that we can achieve our personal best.

We wish everyone a healthy summer filled with enriching and fun activities.

We welcome communication and look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,

Judith Chevalier LCSW,  M.Ed.
